Principal's Letter to Middle School Year Families

Dear Middle School Families and Students:

It is my honor to share with you information on the middle school program at Browns Valley TK-8 School. Browns Valley’s learning community provides middle school students with a smaller yet highly engaging and collaborative environment where they can flourish in academics and social/emotional wellness while developing their voice, advocacy, and independence.

We look forward to our middle school program growing in the ‘23-’24 academic year as our current 6th grades students advance to the 7th grade. The following year, students advance to 8th grade, completing our expansion to a true TK-8 school.

Browns Valley Middle School students are provided with many enriching activities, electives, field trips, assemblies tied to classroom learning, rigorous core instruction, P.E., mentoring, and social-emotional support. These include daily check-ins (Advisory) and mindfulness coaching.  Forming the main components of the Browns Valley Middle School program.

The Browns Valley Family Club (BVFC) provides funds to enrich the lives and educational experiences of all our students. This organization is highly supportive of the middle school with its generous financial and volunteer support.

I look forward to the opportunity to provide families and students with a close-up look at the Browns Valley Middle School Program. Please feel free to call our school office at 707-253-3761 or visit our school website for more information.

Respectfully,

Frank Silva

Principal's Letter to Elementary School Families

Dear Browns Valley Community:

Welcome back to another magical year at Browns Valley Elementary School.  Our school staff has been working over the summer to prepare the school for the 2015-16 school year.  We want students and parents to feel welcome and excited to start the year.  Browns Valley strives to do "What is Best for Kids!".  We are proud of our safe, nurturing, and effective learning environment where students learn and are happy.  BEST practices, students doing their Beary Best, and Tease Free Zone support our efforts of scoring high on our district's BEST rubric.

We have added another 140 Chromebooks to provide students more access to technology during core instruction, enrichment, and intervention.  Napa Valley Unified School District has adopted a new math program, Bridges, that is aligned to the Common Core Standards.  The Bridges math program will promote critical thinking, foundational skills, writing in math, and explaining your thinking/solutions to solving equations.  This program will prepare your child for the demands and rigor of 21st Century learning.

Math, technology and GLAD will be some of our school instructional areas of focus.  We will devote our early release Wednesday staff collaboration time and resources in these areas to ensure your child receives a world-class education.

This is my eighth year at Browns Valley Elementary School.  I consider it an honor and a privilege to be the principal of such a high functioning school and member of a wonderful school community.  Thank you for support and collaboration as we work together on "What is Best for Kids!"

Respectfully,

Frank Silva, Principal
